Felting with the Krafters of Kentville, Jan 18, 2012

The Kentville Krafters felting workshop
The Kentville Krafters were really enthusiastic about having another workshop. We had a great time: everyone made a felted picture, adding trees, sheep, shrubs, and a barn to a basic template. It was lovely to see how different each picture turned out! They are thinking about another workshop at a later date.

The Stitchery Guild of Bedford, Jan 18, 2012

A lovely evening with the Bedford Stitchery Guild
Ewesableart gave a presentation to 17 members of the Bedford stitchery guild. Lots of interesting questions were asked and answered, there were lots of laughs. All in all, it was an interesting evening for everyone.

A Bit of Magic

Sometimes, if you are really lucky something magic comes into your life. It happened to us when our son Marc came home with a baby bird he had found on the ground under a bridge, and, with the faith only a child possesses, he said: "Fix this bird, mum, I think he's hungry.

Peter keeping a lookout for the Vet!Peter keeping Jake companyWell, after weeks of yummy chopped-up worms, water, and a nightly heating pad, our little friend grew bigger and healthier and grew into a pidgeon. He promptly adopted us as his parents and family and would sit on our shoulders and go wherever we went. He had a deep friendship with our welsh pony and it was so funny to watch how he would attack the vet whenever he came to our house to see the pony. Imagine: a little pigeon protecting a great big pony! There were also a few people that, for some reason, he took offense to and he would fly to them and peck at their shoes and pant legs.
Some of my best friends are cats! He grew very chummy with our cats and ate out of their bowl; another thing that totally amazed us! My husband takes credit for teaching Peter, as he was now known, to fly and Peter would follow us and the pony across the fields. Unfortunately he also had the habit of coming along for a car drive by sitting on the hood as soon as someone got in the car to go anywhere. We had to try to distract him away so he wouldn't get hurt. Every day, at 3:30pm on the button, Peter would arrive back home, clinging to the screen on the window to get a treat. How he knew the exact time I will never understand. Peter stayed with us for years and eventually disappeared, probably in love with some pretty pidgoen from another area, but he sure left us with a great deal of memories and that little bit of magic.
